isak@datamus.noFrequently asked questions
Can anyone read my journal entries?
No. Entries are encrypted on your device before being stored or synced. The encryption key is derived from your passphrase, which only you know. Neither Skrive nor any third-party service can read your entries.
What happens if I forget my passphrase?
There is no way to recover a lost passphrase. Because the encryption key never leaves your control, we have no ability to reset it on your behalf. Entries encrypted with the lost passphrase cannot be decrypted. Entries you wrote before setting up a paid subscription are not affected.
How do I sign in on a new Mac?
Sign in with your email and password. You will then be asked to enter your encryption passphrase to unlock your journal on the new device. Your entries will sync automatically once the passphrase is entered.
How do I export my entries?
Open the app and go to File → Export as JSON or File → Export as Text. This exports all your entries in plain text — no encryption — so you can read them anywhere.
My entries aren't syncing. What should I do?
Check your internet connection and make sure you're signed in. If the problem persists, try signing out and back in. Entries are always saved locally first, so nothing is lost while offline.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Email isak@datamus.no and I'll cancel it for you right away. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. Your local entries are never deleted when you cancel.
How do I delete my account?
Email isak@datamus.no with a deletion request. I'll remove your account and all associated data from the server within a few days. Local data on your device is not affected and must be removed manually.
Is Skrive available on iPhone or iPad?
A mobile app is in the works. You can sign up to be notified when it's ready from the home page.
